Attorney Eric Thole – Proud of His Community Involvement

Eric Thole, a long-time resident of Washington County, Minnesota, is one of the most experienced attorneys in the state. Mr. Thole provides defense services for clients in Washington County and the surrounding area in both Minnesota and Wisconsin. Mr. Thole attended Macalester College, a private liberal arts institution in St. Paul from which he graduated cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts degree in 1998. He went on to the University of Wisconsin – Madison Law School, one of the top law schools in the nation, and received his Juris Doctor in 1992.  He was admitted to the Minnesota state court in 1992 and later admitted to the United States District Court – Minnesota District in 2006. His later worked as a misdemeanor prosecutor and civil attorney for the municipalities of Cottage Grove and Stillwater, and as an assistant Washington County attorney from 1997 to 2004. In these positions, he gained valuable experience and knowledge from the prosecution’s point of view, which has helped him become a more skilled defense attorney. He also accumulated numerous contacts in the legal community that benefit him and his clients today.

Eric opened a private practice in 2005 and has experience in both criminal defense and civil litigation. His vast criminal case experience includes both serious felony and minor misdemeanor cases.  These include murder, assault, rape, burglary, arson, prison escape, bank forgery, shoplifting, DUI, disorderly conduct, reckless driving, minor in possession of alcohol, and traffic violations. His extensive civil trial experience includes zoning issues, unlawful detainer matters, employment litigation, adult use violations, and personal injury cases. In addition to criminal and civil cases, Mr. Thole also has experience with appeals.

In addition to offering experienced and skilled legal services, Mr. Thole is also proud of his community and civic involvement. He was on the Stillwater City council from 1995 to 2001 and also served as Commissioner for the St Croix Valley Cable Television Commission for 1999-2000. He has been an active member of the Washington County bar Association and served as was president in1994-1995. He also provided valuable insights to his community by serving as policy advisor for the Association of Metropolitan Municipalities from 1995 to 1998. He is also involved with the Stillwater High School football program, which was coached by his father for over 30 years. He currently serves as a board member for the Ponies Touchdown Club, an organization that supports the Stillwater football program.
